To connect a new LTI 1.3 AI-Assessment-Overview tool to an existing LTI 1.3 Assignment tool integration to Schoology, follow these steps:
First, we need to setup a new integration in the Dashboard: Click on New Integration:
If you don't have active LTI 1.3 Assignment tool integration, first go through the “LTI 1.3 integration setup guide” and create an Assignment tool integration first.
- Click the integration setup for Schoology:
- Enter a name of your choice for your new platform integration in the Integration Name input field:
- After you finish entering the name click Next:
- Next, go to Schoology and login with your admin account. Leave the Copyleaks page open.
- In the top of the window click on the four squares icon:
- Click on the App Center button:
- Click on My Developer Apps from the navigation bar:
- Click on Add App:
- A form will come up. First fill in the App Name input field with a name of your choice:
: - Fill in the description of the app in the Description input field:
- In the dropdown menu for Category, choose whatever category suits you best. For our example here we've chosen Technology:
- Scroll down to the Type of App dropdown menu. From the dropdown menu choose LTI 1.3 App:
- A new form will come up. From the options of Can be installed for select Course Material Selection:
- Click on the Overwrite Domain/URL option and in the input field that opens fill in the url of the tool itself: https://lti.copyleaks.com/api/lti/1.3/ai-assessment-overview/add
- From the Configuration Type dropdown menu choose the Manual option:
- From the Privacy dropdown menu choose Send Name and Email/Username of user who launches the tool:
- In the LTI Advantage Extension make sure that every option is checked:

Now go back to the Copyleaks Dashboard tab you left open from previous steps (Leave Schoology LTI1.3 tool setup tab open)
- In Copyleaks Dashboard integrations page, Click on the “Connect AI-Assessment Overview” link for, existing assignment tool integration you want to connect the AI-Assessment Overview tool integration to.
- The first step of the setup process is automatic. Wait for the first step to finish.
- Copy and paste the links provided in Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab to the right input fields in Schoology tool setup tab as shown in the image below:
- Check the “Require System Administrators to configure settings for this App” and “This application meets the Schoology Terms of Use” checkboxes
- Check the Schoology terms of use:
- In Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab, Click on “Next” button and In Schoology tool setup tab Click on “Submit” button:
- In Schoology you will be navigated to a new window. In the window click on the “Options” drop down menu and choose “API Info”:
- A popup window will open. Copy the Client ID:
- Next, go to the Copyleaks page and click Next:
- In Copyleaks Dashboard integrations page, Click on the “Connect AI-Assessment Overview” link for, existing assignment tool integration you want to connect the AI-Assessment Overview tool integration to.
Copy and paste the “Client ID” and the following links to the right input fields In Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab as shown in the image below:
- Schoology's issuer_id: https://schoology.schoology.com
- OIDC Authorization Endpoint: https://lti-service.svc.schoology.com/lti-service/authorize-redirect
- OAuth 2 Access Token Endpoint: https://lti-service.svc.schoology.com/lti-service/access-token
- JWKS URL: https://lti-service.svc.schoology.com/lti-service/.well-known/jwksCopy these links to the correct input fields as color coded below:
10. In Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab, Click on “Finish” button:
11. If done correctly, in Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab you will be navigated to the “integrations” page and you will see that the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool integration is connected to the “Assignment” tool integration (you chose) - The “Connect AI-Assessment Overview” link will be changed to “AI-Assessment Overview Connected” with a green color, like in the image below:
12. Next, to use the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool in your course, go back to the Schoology tab and follow these steps: Click on the “Install LTI 1.3 App” button in Schoology:
13. In the dialog that opens, click the I Agree button:
15. Click the Continue button:
16. Click on the Add to Organization option:
17. This will redirect to the Organization Apps and the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool (The name you see will be the name of the app you chose in step 2.5) integration will be there, click on Install/Remove button next to it:

17. Make sure that the All Courses option is checked, and click on the Submit button:
18. To open the tool click on the Courses tab at the top of the page:
18. Choose the course you want to install the app with:
19. Click on the “Add Material” drop down menu and choose the tool (The name you see will be the name of the app you chose in step 9):
20. The tool will load up and close by itself - wait for the loading process to end:
21. You will be navigated back to the course materials section. In the material section the tool will be shown. Click on the tool to open it.
22. If everything done correctly, the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool will load up with all the assignment tools used in the course:
