To add a new LTI 1.3 integration to Sakai, follow these steps:
- Create new Integration setup:
- First, we need to setup a new integration in the Dashboard:
- Click on New Integration:
- Click the integration setup for Sakai:
- Enter a name of your choice for your new platform integration in the Platform Name input field:
- After you finish entering the name of your new platform integration, click Next.
- Next, go to Sakai and login with your admin account. Leave the Copyleaks page open.
There are two integrations to set up- The Assignment Tool and the Teacher Scan Tool. In the following steps we will first configure the Teacher Scan Tool.
- Click on the Squares at the top right of the screen:
- A side view will open. From here, in the Other section choose Administration Workspace:
- Click on Administration Workspace tab on the left side of the screen to expand it:
- Click on External Tools:
- Click on Install LTI 1.x Tool from the right of the screen:
- Ensure your settings match those in the following screenshots.
For Launch URL, based on the tool you are setting up, use the following:
Assignment Tool: https://lti.copyleaks.com/api/lti/1.3/assignment/add
Teacher Scan Tool: https://lti.copyleaks.com/api/lti/1.3/teacher-tool/add
- In the Copyleaks LTI dashboard, click on Next.
- In the Sakai configuration page click on Save.
- A new page will appear in Sakai, copy the links and parameters that appear and paste them into the LMS Information card and click Finish (Platform Issuer and subject must have the same value):
- Next, you'll need to go to the course that you want to add the tool to:
- Then go to Assignments:
- Then on the top tabs select Add.
- Scroll down to the Submission Type section and select External Tool (LTI):
- Then click on Select External Tool (LTI) button:
- A dialog box will appear with all the External Tools that were created (Copyleaks Assignment Tool, Copyleaks Teacher Scan Tool). To create a new assignment or scan tool select the corresponding link:
- After selecting one of the tools links, the dialog box will show the Copyleaks page for the tool. Note, for the teacher scan tool only a loading page will show.
- After the Copyleaks tool creation process is done, the dialog box will close and update the tool title according to the creation configuration in the dialog box.
- If you are setting up the Teacher Scan Tool, uncheck Grade this assignment.
- If you are setting up the Assignment Tool, make sure that Grade this assignment in the Grading section is checked and set the max grade to the same value that it was set to in the creation process.
- To Finish click Post:
- A new page will appear including the newly created tool link(s):
AI Assessment Tool Set Up Instructions:
This guide shows how to connect and set up the LTI v1.3 AI-Assessment-Overview tool to the existing LTI v1.3 Assignment tool for Sakai.
To connect a new LTI 1.3 AI-Assessment-Overview tool to an existing LTI 1.3 Assignment tool integration to Sakai, follow these steps:

Go to Copyleaks Dashboard: In the Dashboard click on “Integrations” tab (if you are not in the integrations tab already):
If you don't have active LTI 1.3 Assignment tool integration, first go through the “LTI 1.3 integration setup guide” and create an Assignment tool integration first.

Once you have set up a LTI 1.3 integration for Assignment tool, go to Sakai and login as Administrator (Leave Copyleaks Dashboard tab open):

Click on the “Squares” at the top right of the screen:

A side view will open. From the side view, in the “Other” section choose “AdministrationWorkspace”:

Click on “Administration Workspace” tab on the left side of the screen to expand it:

Click on “External Tools”:

Click on “Install LTI 1.x Tool” on the right of the screen:

Setup the AI-Assessment-Overview tool - Choose values according to the below images. “Tool title”, “Custom Icon” and “Button text” can be whatever you like:

In the “Launch URL” input filed enter the AI-Assessment-Overview Launch url: “https://lti.copyleaks.com/api/lti/1.3/ai-assessment-overview/add”:
- Choose other configurations as shown in the below images:

Now go back to the Copyleaks Dashboard tab you left open from previous steps (Leave Sakai LTI 1.3 tool setup tab open)
- In Copyleaks Dashboard integrations page, Click on the “Connect AI-Assessment Overview” link for, existing assignment tool integration you want to connect the AI-Assessment Overview tool integration to.
- The first step of the setup process is automatic. Wait for the first step to finish.
- In Copyleaks Dashboard integrations page, Click on the “Connect AI-Assessment Overview” link for, existing assignment tool integration you want to connect the AI-Assessment Overview tool integration to.
- Next, go back to the Sakai tool setup tab you left open from previous steps. Leave Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab open.
- Copy and paste the links provided in Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab to the right input fields in Sakai tool setup tab as shown in the image below:
6. In Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab, Click on “Next” button and In Sakai tool setup tab Click on “Save” button:
7. Copy and paste the links provided from Sakai tool setup tab to the right input fields In Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab as shown in the image below:8. Next, click on “Done” button in Sakai setup tab and on the “Finish” button in Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab:
9. If done correctly, in Copyleaks Dashboard setup tab you will be navigated to the “integrations” page and you will see that the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool integration is connected to the “Assignment” tool integration (you chose) - The “Connect AI-Assessment Overview” link will be changed to “AI-Assessment Overview Connected” with a green color, like in the image below:
10. Next, to use the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool in your course, go back to the Sakai tab and follow these steps:

Navigate to any course you would like to use the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool in:

Next, click on “Assignments” to open the course assignments:

Next, click on the add button shown in the image below:

Next, the assignment form that opens up, first fill up the assignment description with whatever you like:

Next, from the “Submission Type” drop-down, select “External Tool (LTI)” option:

After selecting “External Tool (LTI)”, a button will appear. Click on the “Select External Tool (LTI)” button:

In the dialog that opens up, Click on the name you chose for the “AI–Assessment-Overview” integration:

The tool will load up and close by itself - wait for the loading process to end:

Once the loading process finished, uncheck the “Grade this assignment” checkbox:

Click on “Post” button:

Next, you will be navigated back to the assignment tab. In the assignment list of the course the “AI-Assessment-Overview” (Will be the name you chose for the assignment) should be shown. Click on it:

Next, Click on the “Go to External Tool” button:

If everything done correctly, the “AI-Assessment-Overview” tool will load up with all the assignment tools used in the course:
