The Instructor Plagiarism + AI Scan Tool enables instructors to scan files or copy and paste content for scans outside of an assignment. The Scan Tool is helpful for late submissions, discussion board posts, your own class materials, and more. The Scan Tool also allows instructors to upload documents to the Copyleaks database for future scans to match against, without having to scan the documents themselves.
Once you've arrived at the Scan Tool you can scan documents or text, review previous scans and even index documents directly to the Copyleaks Internal Database.
By clicking on the three-dot dropdown menu you will find the options to Scan Documents, Scan Text, and Contribute files to the Copyleaks internal database. Please note, the blue Scan Documents button can be used as an alternative to the Scan Documents option in the dropdown menu.
1. If you opt to Contribute files to Copyleaks internal database you will be redirected to the page below. From here, click on either of the Upload Files buttons, after which you will be prompted to select your file(s) to scan.
After you select and upload your files, click the Index Files button to initiate the indexing of your files to the Copyleaks internal database. Future scans will be able to match against the documents you indexed if the proper scan settings are enabled.
2. If you opt to Scan Documents you will be redirected to the page below. From here, click on either of the Upload Files buttons, after which you will be prompted to select your file(s) to scan.
After you select your files, clicking the blue Scan button will initiate your scan. However, we first recommend you adjust the scan's settings by clicking on the Scan Settings link.
Below, you can see an example of the Scan Settings page. Make sure to click the Save Settings button before you return to the previous page to trigger your scan:
3. If you opt to Scan Text you will be redirected to the page below. From here, type or paste your desired text in the text box. We recommend you adjust your scan's settings, which you can reach by clicking on the Scan Settings link. After you adjust and save your scan settings, click the Scan button to initiate your scan.
Once your scan from either the Scan Text or Scan Documents option is complete, you can find your scan results on the initial Scan Tool page, as shown below. Click on the symbol all the way to the right of the scan to open up the plagiarism and AI detection report in a new tab.
